How can textiles be a metaphor for progressing through life?
In life, we are born with innocence. As teenagers, we begin exploring ourselves and learning about the "evils" of the world. As we mature, we learn from those evils and the people who influence us. We build our characteristics from our reflected experiences. As we begin to die and fade away, we still influence the world long after we have left it. Considering how clothing is made, worn and perceived by society, altered, neglected, destroyed, and remade, clothing has a cyclical time line comparable to human life.
