Cardboard sculpture and magazine collage 18" by 24" on cardboard.
Performance of sculptural destruction in Boston, MA and South Carolina.
Magazines included content from best cleaning products to Michael Jordan’s legacy. The airplanes were from an image in Communication Art Photography Annual 39th Edition– unfortunately I don’t remember who the photographer was.
The cardboard was made from memory, and alongside its initial architectural drawings. While making it, I happened to be on hold with American Airlines for over 1 hour.
Initially for class, the only instruction was to make sculpture and then collage the home on fire and consider light dynamics.
I wanted to make it a meaningful work so, I utilized American iconography of striped lawns, driveway red and white, and 50 stars over the blue jean sky.
Subsequent projects were having people pay $1 per kick to kick my house sculpture until the point of no return during "Carcass," a monthly arts fair at MassArt. I made $16 in profit.
I then rebuilt the house and blew it up with fireworks, a 7mm rifle, and Tannerite in South Carolina.
The house sculpture no longer exists. Thank you to Professor and Boston University MFA Gavin Fahey.
